Like Sew Quilt Pattern Software

The Quick Answer

This is the best quilt pattern software I've seen or used. It couldn't be easier to use, unless you have a printer that can output a quilt.

Installation

Like Sew works on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Media Center, and Microsoft Vista. I installed the software on XP, everything went smoothly. When the install finished it left a Like Sew icon on my desktop. A double click later and it was up and running.

The Product

Like Sew is not for designing quilt patterns that you dream up. This software is better, it dreams them up for you. All you have to do is click a forward or back arrow to browse through countless patterns. When you see one you like be sure to save it. You can print full directions for any pattern, and you can always return to a pattern you have saved. I could spend time creating screen shots, but Like Sew has a great website that has most of the info that I'd put on here. All I can add is this: what a great product!

Pros:
  • Over 1 million patterns to pick from.
  • Easy to follow directions.
  • You can save your favorite patterns and go back to them later.
  • Makes any reasonable size quilt or runner (8" square to 184" square).
Cons:
  • Limited color palette/schemes make it hard to visualize some colors I was considering. This isn't huge, but it would be nice to see it improved.

The Price

At the time of this writing the price of Like Sew $39.95 with free shipping, or $0.00004 per pattern! The website mentions wholesale pricing, which would be great for quilt store owners.
Update (Jan 2nd, 2011) - I was just on the Like Sew site and the price is currently $29.95, that comes out to over 3,000 patterns for one cent!

This is just the first printed page of the pattern that I grabbed from LikeSew.com
